Chessboard cake
INGREDIENTS
- 10 eggs 500g (3 cups) flour 350g (1 3/4 cups) sugar 400g softened butter 2 tsp baking powder 80g (1/4 cup) cocoa powder 1 kg chocolate 300ml (1 1/4 cups) cream
METHOD
- In a bowl mix together eggs with sugar, and add butter, flour, and baking powder.
- Divide the dough into 2 portions and add cocoa powder to the second.
- Transfer light and dark dough to the baking pans and bake at 160°C (320°F) for 60 minutes.
- Slice each cake into two pieces and make the same round cuts.
- Mix chocolate with hot cream.
- Fold the cake using light and dark pieces alternately.
- Spread with prepared chocolate cream on each layer.
- Top with chocolate cream.
