French Tacos

French Tacos

French tacos are a popular street food in France that are essentially a fusion of French and Mexican cuisine. They typically consist of a large tortilla filled with a variety of ingredients such as French fries, meat, cheese, vegetables, and various sauces. Here's a simple recipe for French tacos:

Ingredients:

  • 4 large tortillas
  • 4 cups French fries, cooked according to package instructions
  • 1 lb. ground beef or chicken
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef or chicken over medium-high heat until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the sliced bell pepper and onion to the skillet and cook for a few minutes until softened.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper to make a sauce.
  4. To assemble the French tacos, place a tortilla on a flat surface and spread a generous amount of the sauce over the surface.
  5. Add a layer of French fries on top of the sauce, followed by a layer of the meat and vegetable mixture.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top of the filling.
  7. Fold the sides of the tortilla towards the center, then roll it up tightly from the bottom to create a burrito-like shape.
  8. Repeat with the remaining tortillas and filling.
  9. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and place the French tacos in the skillet, seam side down.
  10. Cook for a few minutes on each side until the tortilla is golden brown and crispy.
  11. Serve the French tacos hot, garnished with additional sauce and fresh herbs if desired.
