French Tacos
French tacos are a popular street food in France that are essentially a fusion of French and Mexican cuisine. They typically consist of a large tortilla filled with a variety of ingredients such as French fries, meat, cheese, vegetables, and various sauces. Here's a simple recipe for French tacos:
Ingredients:
- 4 large tortillas
- 4 cups French fries, cooked according to package instructions
- 1 lb. ground beef or chicken
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef or chicken over medium-high heat until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the sliced bell pepper and onion to the skillet and cook for a few minutes until softened.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper to make a sauce.
- To assemble the French tacos, place a tortilla on a flat surface and spread a generous amount of the sauce over the surface.
- Add a layer of French fries on top of the sauce, followed by a layer of the meat and vegetable mixture.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top of the filling.
- Fold the sides of the tortilla towards the center, then roll it up tightly from the bottom to create a burrito-like shape.
- Repeat with the remaining tortillas and filling.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and place the French tacos in the skillet, seam side down.
- Cook for a few minutes on each side until the tortilla is golden brown and crispy.
- Serve the French tacos hot, garnished with additional sauce and fresh herbs if desired.
