Cherries in syrup

INGREDIENTS

  • 2kg cherries
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 60g sugar
  • Water

METHOD

  1. Wash the cherries very well. Take off the stem. Fill 2 glass jars with the cherries. Add a tablespoon of sugar to each jar and fill with room temperature water.
  2. Boil the jars for 20 minutes. Remove from the heat and leave the jars submerged in hot water for 2 hours.
  3. Store up to two years.
  4. To serve, take the jar of cherries and place it in a pan. Add more sugar and water and heat for 5 minutes. Serve the cooked cherries and juice separately.
