Chili Dogs Homemade Sauce

This homemade chili sauce adds a flavorful and hearty touch to your classic chili dogs. It's a perfect dish for cookouts, game nights, or any casual gathering with friends and family! Here's a recipe for homemade chili sauce for chili dogs:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Hot dog buns
- Hot dogs
- Optional toppings: shredded cheese, diced onions, mustard
Instructions:
- In a large skillet or saucepan, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess grease.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the ground beef. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent and the garlic is fragrant.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste into the skillet. Mix well to combine.
- Add the chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, dried oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir the ingredients together until well incorporated.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the chili sauce simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. This will allow the flavors to meld together and the sauce to thicken slightly.
- While the chili sauce is simmering, cook the hot dogs according to package instructions.
- Once the chili sauce has thickened to your desired consistency, remove it from the heat.
- To assemble the chili dogs, place a cooked hot dog into a bun. Top it with a generous amount of the homemade chili sauce.
- Add any desired toppings such as shredded cheese, diced onions, and mustard.
- Serve the chili dogs immediately while they are still hot and enjoy!
