Healthy Gur Ka Sharbat
Gur ka Sharbat, also known as Jaggery Lemonade, is a healthy and refreshing drink made with jaggery (gur), lemon juice, and water. Here's a recipe to make this delightful and nutritious sharbat:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup grated jaggery (gur)
- Juice of 2 lemons
- 4 cups water
- 1/4 teaspoon black salt (kala namak) or regular salt (adjust to taste)
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
- Ice cubes (optional)
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan, add the grated jaggery and 1 cup of water. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring continuously, until the jaggery dissolves completely. This will create a jaggery syrup. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- In a pitcher, combine the jaggery syrup, lemon juice, and remaining water. Stir well to mix all the ingredients.
- Add black salt or regular salt to the pitcher and give it a good stir. Taste and adjust the salt and lemon juice according to your preference.
- Chill the Gur ka Sharbat in the refrigerator for at least an hour to allow the flavors to meld.
- Before serving, stir the sharbat well. If desired, you can add ice cubes to the pitcher or serve the sharbat over ice in individual glasses.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves for a burst of freshness.
