Chicken Roll Bakery Style
Chicken rolls are a delicious and satisfying snack that can be enjoyed as a light meal or as a party appetizer. Here's a recipe for chicken rolls with a bakery-style twist:
Ingredients:
For the chicken filling:
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup carrot, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon paprika or chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
For the roll:
- 4-6 large tortilla wraps or flatbreads
- Mayonnaise or your favorite sauce
- Lettuce leaves
- Sliced tomatoes
- Sliced cucumbers
- Grated cheese (optional)
Instructions:
- In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the onions, bell pepper, carrot, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the vegetables are tender.
- Add the cooked chicken, paprika or chili powder, ground cumin, ground coriander, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the chicken is heated through and well-coated with the spices. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Warm the tortilla wraps or flatbreads in a microwave or on a stovetop griddle for a few seconds to make them pliable.
- Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise or your favorite sauce on each tortilla wrap or flatbread.
- Place a lettuce leaf on one end of the tortilla wrap or flatbread, leaving some space at the edges.
- Spoon a portion of the chicken filling onto the lettuce leaf. Add sliced tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, and grated cheese if desired.
- Roll the tortilla wrap or flatbread tightly, starting from the end with the filling. Fold in the sides as you roll to create a secure and compact roll.
- Repeat the process with the remaining tortilla wraps or flatbreads and chicken filling.
- Optionally, you can lightly grill or toast the chicken rolls on a stovetop griddle or in a panini press for a crispy outer texture. This step is optional but adds a nice touch to the rolls.
- Slice the chicken rolls diagonally into smaller portions, if desired, and serve them as a snack or appetizer. They can also be served as a light meal with a side salad.
