Easy Beef Stroganoff
This Beef Stroganoff recipe is an old family favorite! Tender, juicy meat smothered in a rich, creamy mushroom sauce. It'll become a classic at your dinner table too!
Ingredients:
- 1.5 lbs (700g) beef sirloin or tenderloin, thinly sliced into strips
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz (225g) cremini or white mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
- Cooked egg noodles or rice, for serving
Instructions:
- Season the sliced beef with salt and black pepper.
- In a large skillet or pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add chopped onions and cook until they become translucent.
- Add minced garlic and sliced mushrooms to the onions. Cook until the mushrooms release their moisture and become golden brown.
- Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir to combine. Cook for about 1-2 minutes to eliminate the raw taste of the flour.
- Add tomato paste to the pan and stir.
- Gradually pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Return the browned beef to the pan and simmer for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
- Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the sour cream until the sauce is smooth and well combined. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the Beef Stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
