Sourdough Biscuits that are Better than Any Other
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough starter (unfed/discard works well)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup milk (whole milk for richer flavor)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Incorporate the cold, cubed butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gently stir in the sourdough starter and milk until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be shaggy.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and lightly knead it a few times. Pat the dough into a rectangle about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick.
- Using a biscuit cutter or a floured glass, cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet, leaving a little space between each.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
- Allow the biscuits to cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
These Sourdough Biscuits, with their tangy flavor and perfect flakiness, will undoubtedly elevate your biscuit experience beyond any other. Enjoy them warm with butter or as a delightful accompaniment to your favorite dishes.
