Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Combine Dry Ingredients:
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream Butter and Sugars:
- In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add Egg and Vanilla:
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in Chocolate and Nuts:
- Fold in the chocolate chips or chunks and chopped nuts (if using) into the cookie dough.
- Scoop and Arrange on Baking Sheets:
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving enough space between each cookie for spreading.
- Bake:
