Florentine-style Cookies
Ingredients:
- Almonds (1 cup, finely chopped)
- Candied fruits (1/2 cup, finely chopped)
- All-purpose flour (2 tablespoons)
- Unsalted butter (1/2 cup)
- Granulated sugar (1/2 cup)
- Heavy cream (2 tablespoons)
- Honey (2 tablespoons)
- Orange zest (1 teaspoon)
- Dark chocolate (1 cup, for melting)
Preparation Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add sugar, heavy cream, and honey. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is smooth.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the chopped almonds, candied fruits, all-purpose flour, and orange zest.
- Drop small portions of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each for spreading.
- Flatten each portion with the back of a spoon to form thin rounds.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate using a double boiler or microwave.
- Dip the bottom of each cooled cookie into the melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off, and place them on parchment paper.
- Let the chocolate set completely before serving or storing.
