Recipe For a Chocolate Marble Cake
Chocolate marble cake is a delicious and visually appealing dessert that combines the flavors of vanilla and chocolate in a swirled pattern.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Prepare dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Incorporate dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the sour cream. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined.
- Divide the batter: Divide the batter in half. In one half, sift in the cocoa powder and add hot water, mixing until well combined. This will be your chocolate batter.
- Layer the batter: Spoon alternating dollops of vanilla and chocolate batter into the prepared pan.
- Create marble effect: Use a skewer or a knife to swirl the batters together, creating a marble effect. Be careful not to overmix; you want distinct swirls.
- Add chocolate chips (optional): Sprinkle chocolate chips over the batter for an extra chocolatey touch.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool and serve: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, you can dust the cake with powdered sugar or drizzle it with a chocolate glaze if desired.
Enjoy your homemade chocolate marble cake!
