Parmesan Chive Biscuits

Parmesan Chive Biscuits

Parmesan chive biscuits are a savory and flavorful variation of traditional biscuits. They are perfect as a side dish or as a delicious snack. Here's a recipe to make Parmesan chive biscuits:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh chives
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk (you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice to 3/4 cup milk and letting it sit for 5 minutes)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and chopped chives, making sure they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  5. Pour in the buttermilk and stir until the dough starts to come together. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it forms a cohesive ball.
  7. Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1 inch. Use a round biscuit cutter or a drinking glass to cut out biscuits from the dough. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
  8. Gather the remaining dough scraps, roll them out again, and cut out more biscuits until all the dough is used.
  9. Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until they turn golden brown on top.
  10. Remove from the oven and let the biscuits cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.

Parmesan chive biscuits are best served warm. You can enjoy them on their own or pair them with butter, jam, or your favorite spreads. They also make a great accompaniment to soups, stews, or salads. Enjoy these flavorful and cheesy biscuits!
