Tofu Inasal
Inasal or Filipino chicken barbeque is easy to make yet delivers tons of flavor. Here's my vegan version using tofu, marinated in calamansi juice, lemongrass, annatto oil and other spices, then air grilled to juicy perfection!
Tofu Steak Inasal
Ingredients:
- 200g silken tofu (pressed, freezed and thawed for three cycles)
Marinade:
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 stalks lemongrass
- 1 thumb ginger
- 1 tbsp calamansi juice or lemon juice
- 1 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
- 1/2 tbsp vegan fish sauce
- 1 tbsp annatto oil
- 1 tbsp coconut sugar
- 1/8 tsp annatto powder
- salt and pepper to taste
marinate for 10-15 minutes
air fry at 180°C for 10-12 minutes, flip halfway, brush with annato oil.
Annatto oil:
- 1 tbsp annatto seeds
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 clove garlic (crushed)
Serve with blue rice, cucumber, chili and soy sauce with calamansi as dipping sauce
