The Perfect Red Velvet Treats From Pancakes to Donuts

Here's a recipe for Red Velvet Treats, a delightful twist on the classic red velvet cake:

Ingredients:

For the treats:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 cup buttermilk

For the cream cheese frosting:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy using an electric mixer.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until well combined. Add the vanilla extract and red food coloring, and mix until evenly incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined after each addition. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove the pan from the oven and let the cake cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  9. While the cake is cooling, prepare the cream cheese frosting. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until creamy and smooth using an electric mixer.
  10. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and continue to beat until the frosting is smooth and fluffy.
  11. Once the cake is cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top of the cake.
  12. Cut the cake into squares or bars to serve. Optionally, you can decorate the treats with red sprinkles or cake crumbs.

Enjoy your homemade Red Velvet Treats! They make a perfect dessert for any occasion.
