6 Hangover Snack Recipes

Pizza Waffles

Ingredients
for 4 waffles

14 oz (395 g) pizza dough, 1 tube, or homemade pizza dough
4 tablespoons marinara sauce
1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
12 slices pepperoni

Preparation

  1. Slice the pizza dough into 8 equal pieces, then press each piece flat.
  2. Place 4 pieces of dough into a preheated, greased waffle iron.
  3. Spread one tablespoon of marinara, ¼ cup (25 grams) of mozzarella, and 3 slices of pepperoni on each piece of dough.
  4. Top with the 4 remaining pieces of dough and seal.
  5. Cook for 3-5 minutes, until golden brown, then serve.
  6. Enjoy!

 

Breakfast Biscuit Fries

Ingredients
for 3 servings

3 strips bacon, chopped
1 cup (125 g) flour
1 cup (240 mL) chicken stock
1 can pre-made biscuit dough
4 links breakfast sausage, cooked
⅓ cup (35 g) shredded cheddar cheese
3 eggs, cooked to your preference
2 teaspoons fresh chive, chopped
pepper, to taste
bacon gravy, for serving

Preparation

  1. Fry bacon until browned and crispy, render out as much fat as possible. Remove the crispy bacon and set aside for later use. Keep the bacon fat which will be used to make the gravy.
  2. Make the bacon gravy in the same pan that you fried the bacon. Add flour to the pan and stir until flour forms thick paste. Cook for about a minute without burning the flour.
  3. Slowly stir in the chicken stock. Keep stirring until you have a smooth consistency. Simmer until the sauce thickens. Keep warm and set aside.
  4. Flatten biscuit dough and cut into strips. Deep fry (oil at 350°F (175°C)) until brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels, and place on baking sheet. Repeat with remaining biscuit dough.
  5. Layer the fried biscuit dough on the baking sheet. Sprinkle the cooked breakfast sausage, fried bacon, shredded cheddar and top with eggs. Pepper to taste.
  6. Broil for 5 - 10 minutes or until the shredded cheddar has melted.
  7. Remove from oven, sprinkle on the chopped chives and drizzle on the bacon gravy.
  8. Enjoy!


Perfect Fluffy Pancake

Ingredients
for 4 servings

4 cups (500 g) flour, sifted
4 tablespoons baking powder
4 cups (960 mL) milk, warm to the touch
¾ cup (170 g) butter, melted
3 egg yolks
4 egg whites
maple syrup, to serve

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, add the flour and baking powder together, stirring to combine.
  2. In a separate bowl, add the butter, milk, and egg yolks, stirring to combine.
  3. In a third bowl, use a hand mixer to beat the egg whites until soft peaks form.
  4. Gently combine the bowl of flour with the butter and milk mixture, stirring until combined. Gently fold in the egg whites.
  5. Pour a large scoop of pancake batter into an 8-inch (20 cm) nonstick pan on low heat. Place the lid on top, and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Repeat with remaining batter.
  6. Serve with maple syrup.
  7. Enjoy!


Breakfast Pizza Boats

Ingredients
for 3 pizza boats

1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup (115 g) feta cheese, crumbled
1 lb (450 g) pizza dough, divided into 3 portions
1 tablespoon olive oil
EGG WASH

3 eggs

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 425˚F (220˚C).
  2. In a small mixing bowl combine the mozzarella and feta and set aside.
  3. On a large floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to an oval roughly 10 inches (25 cm) in length.
  4. Transfer the dough to a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
  5. Cover surface of dough with olive oil and spoon on cheese mixture leaving a 1 inch (2 cm) margin around the outside of the dough.
  6. Fold in the 1 inch (2 cm) margin creating a crust around the cheese.
  7. Brush the crust with egg wash.
  8. Bake for 10 minutes.
  9. Remove the baking sheet from oven and with a knife spread out some of the melted cheese in the center of the pizza boat and crack an egg into it.
  10. Turn down heat to 400˚F (200˚C).
  11. Bake for an additional 6-8 minutes.
  12. Enjoy!


Breakfast Baked Potato

Ingredients
for 3 servings

3 russet potatoes
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon butter
2 oz (55 g) cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon bacon, diced
3 eggs
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon fresh chive, chopped

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F/180°C.
  2. Carefully pierce potatoes with a fork. On a baking sheet, oil the potatoes well and sprinkle with salt.
  3. Bake for about one hour. If making more potatoes, an additional 15 minutes per potato is needed.
  4. Once cooled, cut the potatoes vertically, scoop out the inside, and save the scooped out insides (for mashed potatoes, etc.).
  5. Spread butter on the inside of each scooped out potato.
  6. Add cheese, bacon, one egg per potato, salt, and pepper. Top with chives.
  7. Bake 25 minutes, until the egg white has cooked through.
  8. Serve warm with chives.
  9. Enjoy!


S'mores Crepes

Ingredients
for 2 servings

2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
3 eggs
¼ cup (55 g) butter, melted
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
3 cups (720 mL) milk
graham cracker, as desired
chocolate, as desired
marshmallow, as desired
chocolate syrup, to garnish

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, eggs, butter, and sugar, stirring until ingredients are slightly mixed.
  2. Add the milk ½ cup at a time, stirring vigorously, making sure the milk is completely incorporated into the batter and that the batter is smooth before adding more milk.
  3. Repeat with the rest of the milk. The batter should be very liquidy and have no lumps.
  4. In a pan over medium heat, pour ⅓ cup (110 G) of the batter in the center and swirl the batter around the edges of the pan until set.
  5. To know when the crepe is ready to flip, lift up one of the edges about ⅓ of the way. The bottom side should be golden brown. Flip the crepe.
  6. Cook until the edges are starting to slightly crisp.
  7. Remove from heat and cover with a paper towel to make sure the crepes stay moist.
  8. Add graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows to crepe. Fold crepe over twice.
  9. Bake at 350˚F (175˚C) for 10 minutes.
  10. Remove from heat and cool.
  11. Serve with chocolate syrup and crumbled graham crackers.
  12. Enjoy!
