Cheese Steamed Cake

Cheese Steamed Cake

When I was a child, no one had the oven.

But my mother and grandmother used to make cakes.

How? They used the steamer.

Ingredients

18cm×10cm loaf pan

  • 65g Natural Cheeses
  • 70g Milk
  • A pinch of salt
  • 45g Sugar
  • 1 Egg(55g w/o shell)
  • 20g Neutral-flavored oil (vegetable, rice bran, canola, etc)
  • 100g Flour
  • 4g Baking powder

Directions

① Put milk and Natural Cheeses in a heatproof bowl.

Microwave 600w for 1 minutes.

Mix well until smooth.

②Add sugar,salt and mix well.

If it is hot, cool it slightly.

③Add the eggs and oil in that order and mix well.

④Add sifted flour and baking powder and mix well.

⑤Pour the batter into parchment paper-lined the cups.

⑥Pour water into the stewpot and bring to the boil over high heat.

Bring to a boil, then turn off heat.

⑦Carefully place the tin into the steamer, cover with lid and cook for 20 minutes(Medium heat)OR until cooked through. *

*Note: I recommend to wrap the lid with tea towel or large cloth, so that water won’t drip onto the cake.
