Southern Style Bacon & Onion Cabbage

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole cabbage
  • 7 strips of smoked Bacon
  • 1/2 large sweet onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (I said beef broth in the video...mistake)

Ray Mack's Soulfood Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Directions:

1. Clean your cabbage. Cut into thin slices or chunks. Slice bacon into bite size pieces.
2. Heat a cast iron pot or skillet over med-high heat, add a small amount of oil to the skillet if needed...cook bacon and onionsuntil crispy.
3. Add: cabbage to the pot or skillet, add seasonings listed above, along with chicken broth...mix well. Cook for 10 mins. Please stir the cabbage when cooking constantly so it wont burn from the bottom.
4. when cabbage is tender. SERVE WHILE HOT AND ENJOY.
