Stuffed Chinese Cabbage Leaves (Russian Golubtsi)

Today I suggest to experiment and prepare stuffed Chinese cabbage leaves. We will use chicken fillet to prepare mince. If desired, it can be replaced with turkey, pork or beef. The golubtsi prepared on this recipe are very tasty, juicy and fragrant. The tender chicken meat combines perfectly with the thin leaves of Chinese cabbage, giving the dish an original taste.

Ingredients

  • Chinese cabbage
    1 pcs
  • Chicken fillet
    700 g
  • Long-grain rice
    3 tbsp
  • Carrot
    1 pcs
  • Onion
    1 pcs
  • Garlic
    2-3 clove
  • Tomato juice
    250 ml
  • Olive oil
    50 ml
  • Bay leaf
    2 pcs
  • Allspice
    4 pcs
  • Khmeli-suneli
    0.25 tsp
  • Salt
    - to taste



Steps

  • 1. Peel one onion and carrot and cut largely. Shift the vegetables into the blender bowl and ground.
  • 2. Wash chicken fillet, clean from fat and skins and cut into small pieces. Transfer the meat to the blender bowl, add the peeled garlic cloves. Break the mixture into homogeneous mince.
  • 3. Wash the rice carefully, pour with cold water and cook to semi-readiness. In deep ware let’s combine chicken mince, crushed vegetables and rice. Add salt and spices to taste.
  • 4. Mix the ingredients thoroughly until homogeneity.
  • 5. Cut off the base from Chinese cabbage and separate the leaves. Put the cabbage leaves into boiling salted water and prepare them for 3 minutes. Then with the help of skimming-dish get cabbage leaves from the pan and cool them to room temperature.
  • 6. On one edge of the cabbage leaf, put 2 tablespoons of mince and wrap the golubets. In this way let’s form all products.
  • 7. Peel the second onion and cut with small cubes. Put the ground vegetable in a deep frying pan with pre-heated vegetable oil. Stir periodically and brown onions on a low fire until a light golden brown.
  • 8. Pour in the frying pan tomato juice and add salt to taste. Bring the mixture to boiling.
  • 9. Put the stuffed cabbage leaves in tomato sauce. Add peas of black allspice and bay leaves. Cover the frying pan with a lid and cook the golubtsi on a low fire for 30 minutes.
  • 10. Serve the ready dish in hot form, decorated with fresh greenery.
