Delicious Meringue Tree

Ingredients:

  • 4 large egg whites, at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Pinch of salt
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Edible decorations (sprinkles, edible glitter) for embellishment

Steps:

  1. Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean, dry bowl, beat egg whites with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while continuing to beat. Ensure sugar is fully dissolved before adding more.
  4. Add vanilla extract, cream of tartar, and a pinch of salt. Continue beating until glossy stiff peaks form.
  5. If using food coloring, gently fold it into the meringue mixture until evenly colored.
  6. Spoon the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet, shaping it into a tree-like structure. Create layers to mimic branches.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 1.5 to 2 hours or until the meringue is crisp and easily lifts off the parchment paper.
  8. Turn off the oven and let the meringue tree cool completely inside the oven.
  9. Once cooled, gently peel the meringue off the parchment paper and assemble it on a serving platter.
  10. Decorate the Meringue Tree with edible decorations for a festive touch.

Display your Meringue Tree as a beautiful centerpiece, and invite your guests to break off sweet, airy pieces as a delightful finale to your celebration.
