Delicious Meringue Tree
Ingredients:
- 4 large egg whites, at room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- Pinch of salt
- Food coloring (optional)
- Edible decorations (sprinkles, edible glitter) for embellishment
Steps:
- Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean, dry bowl, beat egg whites with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while continuing to beat. Ensure sugar is fully dissolved before adding more.
- Add vanilla extract, cream of tartar, and a pinch of salt. Continue beating until glossy stiff peaks form.
- If using food coloring, gently fold it into the meringue mixture until evenly colored.
- Spoon the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet, shaping it into a tree-like structure. Create layers to mimic branches.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1.5 to 2 hours or until the meringue is crisp and easily lifts off the parchment paper.
- Turn off the oven and let the meringue tree cool completely inside the oven.
- Once cooled, gently peel the meringue off the parchment paper and assemble it on a serving platter.
- Decorate the Meringue Tree with edible decorations for a festive touch.
Display your Meringue Tree as a beautiful centerpiece, and invite your guests to break off sweet, airy pieces as a delightful finale to your celebration.
