Chicken Cordon Bleu

Chicken Cordon Bleu

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 slices ham
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Olive oil for frying (if pan-frying)
  • Toothpicks (for securing)

Steps:

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) if baking.

Step 2: Flatten each chicken breast to an even thickness. Season with salt and pepper.

Step 3: Place a slice of Swiss cheese and a slice of ham on each chicken breast.

Step 4: Roll up the chicken breasts, securing them with toothpicks to maintain the shape.

Step 5: In a shallow dish, combine breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, dried thyme, dried parsley, salt, and pepper.

Step 6: Dredge each chicken roll in flour, dip into beaten eggs, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture.

Step 7: If baking, place the coated chicken rolls on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden and cooked through.

Step 8: If pan-frying, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken rolls until browned on all sides, then transfer to a baking dish and bake until fully cooked.

Step 9: Remove toothpicks before serving. Optionally, garnish with additional herbs.

Enjoy the culinary sophistication of Chicken Cordon Bleu—a timeless creation that brings together the delectable trio of chicken, ham, and cheese in every bite.
