How to Perfectly Sear Scallops

Seared scallops are a delicious and elegant dish that are easy to prepare. Here is a recipe for making seared scallops:

Ingredients:

  • 12 large sea scallops
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions:

  1. Remove the tough side muscle from each scallop, if present, and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. Season the scallops on both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over high heat until it is very hot.
  4. Add the scallops to the skillet and cook them for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and caramelized on the outside and opaque on the inside. Do not overcook them, as they will become tough and rubbery.
  5. Remove the scallops from the skillet and place them on a plate.
  6. Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter to the skillet.
  7. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 30 seconds, or until it becomes fragrant.
  8. Add the lemon juice and chopped parsley to the skillet and stir to combine.
