Instant Pot Chicken Breasts

Easy Instant Pot Chicken Breasts are tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned. A simple, tasty protein that makes lunch and dinnertime a breeze!

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional for searing)

Instructions:

1. Season the Chicken:

  • In a small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

2. Season and Sear (Optional):

  • Rub the seasoning mixture over the chicken breasts. If you have time, you can optionally sear the chicken breasts in the Instant Pot using the sauté function. Heat olive oil in the Instant Pot, and sear the chicken on both sides until golden brown. This step adds extra flavor but can be skipped if you're short on time.

3. Add Chicken Broth:

  • Pour the chicken broth into the Instant Pot, and deglaze the bottom of the pot by scraping any browned bits with a wooden spoon.

4. Pressure Cook:

  • Place the seasoned (or seared) chicken breasts into the Instant Pot. Close the lid and set the Instant Pot to high pressure for 8 minutes. Make sure the steam valve is in the sealing position.

5. Natural Release:

  • Once the cooking time is complete, allow the Instant Pot to naturally release pressure for about 5-7 minutes. Then, carefully switch the valve to venting to release any remaining pressure.

6. Check for Doneness:

  • Open the Instant Pot and check the internal temperature of the chicken. It should reach at least 165°F (74°C).

7. Serve:

  • Remove the chicken breasts from the Instant Pot and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve the chicken with your favorite sides.
