  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs

For the Cream Frosting:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

For the Cake Layers:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients.
  6. Divide the batter evenly into six portions.
  7. Add food coloring to each portion to create a spectrum of colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.
  8. Pour each colored batter into its own prepared cake pan.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

For the Cream Frosting:

  1. In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream until it starts to thicken.
  2. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Continue whipping until stiff peaks form.

Assembly:

  1. Once the cake layers are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate.
  2. Spread a layer of cream frosting over the first cake layer.
  3. Stack the remaining colored cake layers on top, spreading cream frosting between each layer.
  4. Frost the entire cake with the remaining cream frosting, covering it evenly.
  5. Optionally, decorate the Cream Colorful Cake with additional sprinkles or decorations.
  6. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.
