Chicken Tacos
Chicken tacos are a delicious and versatile dish that can be customized with various toppings and fillings.
Ingredients:
For the chicken:
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Juice of 1 lime
For the tacos:
- 8 small flour or corn tortillas
- Your choice of toppings:
- Shredded lettuce
- Diced tomatoes
- Chopped onions
- Sliced avocado or guacamole
- Shredded cheese
- Sour cream or Greek yogurt
- Cilantro leaves
- Salsa or hot sauce
Instructions:
- In a bowl, combine the chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and lime juice to make a marinade.
- Place the chicken breasts in a shallow dish or a zip-top bag and pour the marinade over them. Make sure the chicken is well coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight in the refrigerator for maximum flavor.
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken breasts and cook for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until cooked through and no longer pink in the center. Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the chicken breasts. You can also grill the chicken on an outdoor grill if desired.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes. Then, slice or shred the chicken into smaller pieces.
- Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or in the oven according to the package instructions.
- Assemble the tacos by placing the sliced or shredded chicken onto each tortilla. Top with your desired toppings such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, chopped onions, sliced avocado or guacamole, shredded cheese, sour cream or Greek yogurt, cilantro leaves, and salsa or hot sauce.
- Serve the chicken tacos warm and enjoy!
