Oklahoma Burger

Oklahoma Burger

While there isn't a universally recognized "Oklahoma Burger" recipe, I can provide you with a delicious burger recipe inspired by the flavors and ingredients commonly found in Oklahoma.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef (80% lean/20% fat)
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices of bacon
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • Pickle slices
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Barbecue sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for cooking

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet to medium-high heat.
  2. In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Gently mix the seasoning into the meat, being careful not to overwork it, as it can result in a tough burger.
  3. Divide the seasoned ground beef into four equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty, making sure they're slightly larger than the size of your burger buns, as they will shrink while cooking.
  4. Cook the bacon slices in a separate skillet until crispy. Once cooked, set them aside on paper towels to drain excess grease.
  5. In the same skillet, cook the sliced onions over medium heat until they turn golden brown and caramelized. Remove the onions from the heat and set them aside.
  6. Brush the grill or skillet with a little vegetable oil to prevent the burgers from sticking. Place the burger patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness is reached.
  7. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each burger patty to allow it to melt.
  8. Assemble the burgers: Toast the burger buns lightly if desired. Spread barbecue sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place a cooked burger patty with melted cheese on top of the sauce. Add a slice of bacon, caramelized onions, pickle slices, lettuce, and tomato. Top with the other half of the bun.
  9. Serve the Oklahoma burgers immediately and enjoy!

Feel free to customize the recipe by adding your favorite toppings or condiments. Oklahoma-style burgers often incorporate regional flavors like barbecue sauce and caramelized onions, but you can always add additional ingredients based on your personal preferences.
