Oklahoma Burger
While there isn't a universally recognized "Oklahoma Burger" recipe, I can provide you with a delicious burger recipe inspired by the flavors and ingredients commonly found in Oklahoma.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef (80% lean/20% fat)
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese
- 4 slices of bacon
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- Pickle slices
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Barbecue sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for cooking
Instructions:
- Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet to medium-high heat.
- In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Gently mix the seasoning into the meat, being careful not to overwork it, as it can result in a tough burger.
- Divide the seasoned ground beef into four equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty, making sure they're slightly larger than the size of your burger buns, as they will shrink while cooking.
- Cook the bacon slices in a separate skillet until crispy. Once cooked, set them aside on paper towels to drain excess grease.
- In the same skillet, cook the sliced onions over medium heat until they turn golden brown and caramelized. Remove the onions from the heat and set them aside.
- Brush the grill or skillet with a little vegetable oil to prevent the burgers from sticking. Place the burger patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness is reached.
- During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each burger patty to allow it to melt.
- Assemble the burgers: Toast the burger buns lightly if desired. Spread barbecue sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place a cooked burger patty with melted cheese on top of the sauce. Add a slice of bacon, caramelized onions, pickle slices, lettuce, and tomato. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve the Oklahoma burgers immediately and enjoy!
Feel free to customize the recipe by adding your favorite toppings or condiments. Oklahoma-style burgers often incorporate regional flavors like barbecue sauce and caramelized onions, but you can always add additional ingredients based on your personal preferences.
