Tofu Steak in Mushroom Adobo Sauce

These meaty vegan tofu steaks in savory Filipino adobo sauce, topped with mushrooms makes for an easy protein-packed meal with layers of textures and flavors.

Tofu Steak in Mushroom Adobo

Ingredients:

  • 200g silken tofu (pressed, freezed and thawed for three cycles)
  • 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp celery powder
  • 2 tbsp oat milk
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • oil spray

air fry at 180°C for 10-12 minutes, flip halfway

  • 2 pcs king oyster mushrooms
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp coconut vinegar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 cup vegetable stock
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 tbsp whole eppercorn
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch + 1/4 cup water
  • salt to taste
  • spring onions for garnish
