Butter Cookies Bakery Style
Enjoy these classic bakery-style Butter Cookies with a cup of tea or coffee!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture. Beat until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
- If the dough is too soft to handle, you can refrigerate it for 30 minutes to firm it up.
- Using a cookie scoop or your hands, shape the dough into small balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving some space between each cookie.
- Flatten each ball slightly with the back of a fork, creating a crisscross pattern on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, store the Butter Cookies in an airtight container.
