Ingredients:

  • 2 sheets of puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving (optional)

Cooking Steps:

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add brown sugar, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.

Step 3: Add the sliced apples to the caramel mixture and cook until they are softened and coated with the caramel sauce. Remove from heat.

Step 4: Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into squares or rectangles, depending on your preference.

Step 5: Place a spoonful of the caramelized apple mixture onto the center of each puff pastry piece.

Step 6: Fold the puff pastry over the apples, creating a turnover or pocket. Press the edges to seal.

Step 7: Transfer the filled pastries onto the prepared baking sheet.

Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden brown and flaky.

Step 9: Allow the Caramelized Puff Pastry Apples to cool slightly before serving. Optionally, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
