Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot coffee

For the Ganache:

  • 1 cup dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Optional Garnish:

  • Fresh berries, edible flowers, or powdered sugar

Baking Steps:

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease and flour two heart-shaped cake pans.

Step 2: In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Step 3: Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.

Step 4: Gradually stir in the hot coffee, blending until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.

Step 5: Pour the romantic chocolate batter evenly into the heart-shaped pans.

Step 6: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

For the Ganache:

Step 8: In a heatproof bowl, combine chopped dark chocolate, heavy cream, and butter. Melt the mixture over a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring until smooth.

Step 9: Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread the ganache over the top and sides of the heart-shaped cakes.

Optional Garnish:

Step 10: Decorate with fresh berries, edible flowers, or a dusting of powdered sugar for an extra romantic touch.
