Banana Bread Brownies


  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • Chopped nuts (optional)


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a square baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, melted butter, and sugar. Mix until well combined.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips or chopped chocolate and nuts, if using.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
  9. Allow the Banana Bread Brownies to cool in the pan before slicing into squares.
  10. Optional: Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with melted chocolate for extra sweetness.
