Crispy Chicken Croquettes

Crispy Chicken Croquettes

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, finely shredded
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Cooking Steps:

Step 1: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and cook, stirring constantly, for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.

Step 2: Gradually whisk in milk, ensuring no lumps form. Cook the mixture until it thickens to a smooth consistency.

Step 3: Add shredded chicken, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper to the sauce. Stir until the chicken is evenly coated and the mixture is well combined.

Step 4: Remove the chicken mixture from heat and let it cool to room temperature.

Step 5: Once cooled, shape the chicken mixture into croquettes, forming cylinders or oval shapes.

Step 6: In separate bowls, place breadcrumbs and beaten eggs.

Step 7: Roll each croquette in the beaten eggs, ensuring it is fully coated, then coat it in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.

Step 8: Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 350°F (175°C).

Step 9: Fry the coated chicken croquettes in batches until golden brown and crispy. This should take about 3-4 minutes per batch.

Step 10: Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried croquettes and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.

Step 11: Allow the Crispy Chicken Croquettes to cool slightly before serving.

Step 12: Serve the croquettes hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
