Ingredients:
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup whole milk, warmed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Cooking Steps:
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the mixture and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
- Add melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing to form a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size (about 1-2 hours).
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a large rectangle.
- Cut strips from the rectangle and tie each strip into a knot.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (180°C).
- Fry the knots until golden brown on both sides.
- Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar.
