6 Instant Pakoda & Vada

1. Classic Onion Pakoda: Ingredients:

  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1 cup thinly sliced onions
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water (as needed)
  • Oil for frying

2. Potato Vada: Ingredients:

  • 2 cups boiled and mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

3. Spinach Corn Pakoda: Ingredients:

  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped spinach
  • 1/2 cup corn kernels
  • 1 tsp green chili paste
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Water (as needed)
  • Oil for frying

4. Masoor Dal Vada: Ingredients:

  • 1 cup split red lentils (masoor dal), soaked
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

5. Paneer Pakoda: Ingredients:

  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1 cup crumbled paneer
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water (as needed)
  • Oil for frying

6. Corn and Capsicum Fritters: Ingredients:

  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1/2 cup corn kernels
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped capsicum
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water (as needed)
  • Oil for frying

Steps:

  1. For each variation, mix the ingredients together to form a thick batter.
  2. Heat oil in a pan for frying.
  3. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil.
  4. Fry until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove from the oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  6. Serve hot with chutney or sauce.
