Ultimate Miniature Rainbow Cake Decorating
Ingredients:
For the Rainbow Cake Layers:
- 1 box of white cake mix (plus ingredients required on the box)
- Gel food coloring (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)
For the Frosting:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Garnish:
- Sprinkles, edible glitter, or additional decorations
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven according to the cake mix instructions. Grease and flour mini cake pans.
- Prepare the white cake mix as directed on the box.
- Divide the cake batter into six equal portions.
- Color each portion of batter with gel food coloring to create the rainbow colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.
- Starting with one color, pour a small amount of batter into each mini cake pan. Repeat with the remaining colors, layering them in the same order.
- Bake according to the cake mix instructions or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool completely in the pans.
- While the cakes are cooling, prepare the frosting by beating together softened butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Once the cakes are cooled, remove them from the pans.
- Trim the tops of the cakes to create an even surface.
- Stack the colored layers on top of each other to create a miniature rainbow cake.
- Frost the outside of the cake with the prepared frosting, covering it completely.
- Garnish with sprinkles, edible glitter, or other decorations for a festive touch.
- Repeat the process for each miniature rainbow cake.
