Buttermilk Biscuits

Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk (cold)

Cooking Steps:

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Step 3: Add cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4: Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the cold buttermilk.

Step 5: Gently stir the ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.

Step 6: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Pat or roll the dough to a thickness of about 1 inch.

Step 7: Using a round biscuit cutter or a glass, cut out biscuits from the dough. Avoid twisting the cutter to ensure proper rising.

Step 8: Place the cut biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a small gap between each.

Step 9: Gather any remaining dough scraps, gently pat or roll them, and cut out additional biscuits.

Step 10: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.

Step 11: Remove the Buttermilk Biscuits from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes.

Step 12: Serve the biscuits warm with butter, honey, or your favorite toppings.

Enjoy the simple pleasure of freshly baked Buttermilk Biscuits, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a delightful side to your favorite meals.
