Lemon Bars

Ingredients:

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the Lemon Filling:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 and 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 3-4 lemons)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Cooking Steps:

For the Crust:

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.

Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Step 3: Add all-purpose flour and salt to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix until a crumbly dough forms.

Step 4: Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Step 5: Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until lightly golden.

For the Lemon Filling:

Step 6: In a bowl, whisk together eggs, granulated sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest, and all-purpose flour until well combined.

Step 7: Pour the lemon filling over the baked crust.

Step 8: Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes or until the lemon filling is set and no longer jiggles.

Step 9: Allow the Lemon Bars to cool completely in the baking dish.

For Serving:

Step 10: Once cooled, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the bars from the dish.

Step 11: Dust the Lemon Bars with powdered sugar.

Step 12: Cut into squares and serve these delightful treats.
