Mini Aloo Samosa At Home
Ingredients:
For the Samosa Dough:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Water (for kneading)
For the Potato Filling:
- 2 large potatoes, boiled, peeled, and mashed
- 1/2 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon green chili, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
- Oil (for frying)
Cooking Steps:
For the Samosa Dough:
Step 1: In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, ghee or oil, and salt.
Step 2: Gradually add water and knead the mixture into a smooth, firm dough. Cover and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
For the Potato Filling:
Step 3: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds; let them splutter.
Step 4: Add grated ginger and chopped green chili. Sauté for a minute until fragrant.
Step 5: Stir in turmeric powder, coriander powder, and garam masala.
Step 6: Add mashed potatoes and green peas to the spice mixture. Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes.
Step 7: Season with salt and garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Allow the filling to cool.
Assembly and Frying:
Step 8: Divide the rested dough into small lemon-sized balls.
Step 9: Roll each ball into a small disc, creating a circular shape.
Step 10: Cut the circle in half to form two semi-circles.
Step 11: Fold each semi-circle into a cone, sealing the edges with a little water.
Step 12: Fill the cone with the prepared potato filling, ensuring it's not overfilled.
Step 13: Seal the open edge of the cone to form a triangular samosa.
Step 14: Heat oil in a pan for frying. Fry the mini samosas until they turn golden brown and crispy.
Step 15: Remove the Mini Aloo Samosas from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Step 16: Serve hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
