Mushroom Tarts: How to Prepare them with few Ingredients
Ingredients:
For the Mushroom Filling:
- 2 cups mushrooms (button, cremini, or a mix), finely chopped
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh thyme or rosemary, chopped (optional)
For the Tarts:
- Puff pastry sheets (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Cooking Steps:
Mushroom Filling:
- In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Sauté onions until translucent, then add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Add chopped mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and become golden brown.
- Season with salt, pepper, and fresh herbs if using. Allow the mixture to cool.
Tarts:
- Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the puff pastry package (usually around 400°F or 200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets and cut them into squares or desired shapes.
- Place a spoonful of the cooled mushroom filling in the center of each pastry square.
- Fold the edges of the pastry over the filling, creating a rustic tart shape.
- Beat an egg and brush it over the pastry for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is golden and puffed.
