Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  1. 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
  2. 1 cup warm milk
  3. 3 cups all-purpose flour
  4. 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  5. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  6. 1 cup unsalted butter, cold

For the Filling:

  1. Your choice of jam, pastry cream, chocolate, or Nutella

For the Topping:

  1. Powdered sugar
  2. Optional: sliced almonds, chopped nuts, or sprinkles

Cooking Steps:

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Pour in the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth. Cover and let it rise until doubled in size (1-2 hours).
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and fold it into thirds. Repeat this process twice more, then refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  6. Roll out the dough again and cut it into squares. Place a dollop of your chosen filling in the center of each square.
  7. Roll each square into a log shape, creating the cruffin. Place them in a muffin tin.
  8. Allow the cruffins to rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the cruffins for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Allow them to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar and add optional toppings.
