Puff Pastry Ground Beef Roulade

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 lb (about 450g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the cooked ground beef. Sauté until the onion is translucent.
  4. Season the mixture with ground cumin, paprika, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  5. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface into a rectangular shape.
  6. Spread the seasoned ground beef mixture evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  7. Starting from one of the longer sides, tightly roll the puff pastry and filling into a log shape.
  8. Place the rolled roulade seam side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Brush the beaten egg over the top of the puff pastry for a golden finish. Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds or poppy seeds on top.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden brown and cooked through.
  11. Allow the Puff Pastry Ground Beef Roulade to cool for a few minutes before slicing into rounds.
