Drumstick Pulimunchi

Ingredients:

  • Drumsticks, cut into pieces
  • Tamarind pulp
  • Coconut, grated
  • Mustard seeds
  • Fenugreek seeds
  • Curry leaves
  • Dry red chilies
  • Turmeric powder
  • Red chili powder
  • Coriander powder
  • Asafoetida (hing)
  • Jaggery or sugar
  • Cooking oil
  • Salt to taste

Steps:

Step 1: Soak tamarind pulp in warm water and extract the juice.

Step 2: In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, and dry red chilies.

Step 3: Add asafoetida and grated coconut. Sauté until the coconut turns golden brown.

Step 4: Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Mix well.

Step 5: Stir in the tamarind juice and bring the mixture to a boil.

Step 6: Add drumstick pieces and let them cook until tender.

Step 7: Adjust the consistency by adding water if needed. Season with salt and a touch of jaggery or sugar for balance.

Step 8: Simmer until the Drumstick Pulimunchi reaches a thick and flavorful consistency.

Step 9: Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve this tangy and spicy Drumstick Pulimunchi with steamed rice or Indian breads, enjoying the explosion of tastes in each delightful bite.
