Sugar Coated Sweet Potato Sticks

Sugar Coated Sweet Potato Sticks

Ingredients

  • Japanese Sweet Potato *about 300g
  • Oil for cooking
  • Sugar Coating
  • 45g Sugar
  • 1 tbsps Water
  • Salt

【Directions】

①Wash the sweet potatoes well. Cut them into long, thin slices about 7mm wide.

②Soak them in plenty of water and change the water several times until it is no longer cloudy. This process improves the texture of the sweet potatoes.

③Drain the water from the sweet potatoes and pat them dry.

④Arrange the sweet potatoes in a frying pan and spray with oil, or mix in oil to coat the sweet potatoes evenly.

⑤Heat over medium to low heat until the sweet potatoes are crispy all over. Once they are crispy, transfer them to a tray or similar surface.

⑥Wipe the frying pan with a paper towel, add sugar and water, and put it back on the heat. When bubbles start to form, return the sweet potatoes to the pan and stir to coat them evenly.

⑦Transfer to parchment paper and spread them out. Finally, sprinkle it with salt, and they're ready! They will become crispy as they cool down.
