Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup unsalted butter
  2. 2 cups granulated sugar
  3. 4 large eggs
  4. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  5. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  6. 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  7. 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  8. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  9. 1 cup chocolate chips or chunks
  10. Chopped nuts (optional)

Steps:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar until well combined.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips or chunks and chopped nuts if using.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting into squares.
