Punjabi Aloo Paratha

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  1. 2 cups whole wheat flour
  2. Water (as needed)
  3. Salt to taste

For the Potato Filling:

  1. 3 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  2. 1 small onion, finely chopped
  3. 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  4. 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  5. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  6. 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  7. 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  8. Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Ghee or oil for cooking

Steps:

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  • In a bowl, mix whole wheat flour, salt, and water to form a soft dough. Set aside.

Step 2: Make Potato Filling

  • In another bowl, combine mashed potatoes with chopped onion, green chilies, grated ginger, cumin seeds, garam masala, red chili powder, chopped coriander leaves, and salt. Mix well.

Step 3: Assemble Parathas

  • Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each portion into a small ball.
  • Roll out a ball into a small disc, place a portion of the potato filling in the center, and seal the edges to form a stuffed ball.

Step 4: Roll Out Parathas

  • Roll out the stuffed ball into a flat, round paratha.

Step 5: Cook on Griddle

  • Heat a griddle or skillet. Cook the rolled-out paratha on both sides, applying ghee or oil until golden brown spots appear.

Step 6: Serve Hot

  • Serve Punjabi Aloo Paratha hot with yogurt, pickles, or a side of butter for a delightful and authentic Punjabi culinary experience.
