Perfect Duchess Potatoes
Ingredients:
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- Salt and white pepper to taste
- 2 egg yolks
- Nutmeg for garnish (optional)
- Chopped chives for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Step 1: Boil or steam the peeled and diced potatoes until they are tender.
Step 2: Drain the potatoes and mash them thoroughly, ensuring no lumps remain.
Step 3: In a saucepan, heat the butter and heavy cream over low heat until the butter is melted. Season with salt and white pepper.
Step 4: Add the butter and cream mixture to the mashed potatoes and mix until smooth and creamy.
Step 5: Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then beat in the egg yolks one at a time until well incorporated.
Step 6: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Step 7: Spoon the mashed potato mixture into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
Step 8: Pipe swirls or rosettes of the mashed potatoes onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 9: Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of nutmeg on top of each Duchess Potato for added flavor.
Step 10: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown.
Step 11: Garnish with chopped chives if desired.
Step 12: Serve these elegant Duchess Potatoes as a side dish to impress your guests or elevate your dinner table.
