Crispy Chebureki

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  1. 3 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 1 cup water
  3. 1 egg
  4. 1/2 tsp salt

For the Filling: 5. 1 lb ground meat (beef, lamb, or a combination)

  1. 1 onion, finely chopped
  2. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  3. Salt and pepper to taste
  4. Paprika and cumin (optional, for added flavor)

For Frying: 10. Vegetable oil for deep frying

(Optional: Dipping Sauce) 11. Sour cream or yogurt-based sauce with herbs

Steps:

Step 1: Prepare the Dough In a large bowl, combine flour, water, egg, and salt. Knead the mixture until a smooth dough forms. Let it rest for about 30 minutes.

Step 2: Make the Filling In a separate bowl, mix ground meat, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and optional spices like paprika and cumin. Ensure the filling is well combined.

Step 3: Roll Out Dough Divide the dough into small balls. Roll out each ball into a thin, round disc, approximately 6-8 inches in diameter.

Step 4: Fill and Fold Place a portion of the meat filling on one side of the dough disc. Fold the other half over the filling, creating a half-moon shape. Seal the edges by pressing with a fork.

Step 5: Heat Oil Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large, deep pan to around 350°F (175°C).

Step 6: Fry Chebureki Carefully place the filled dough pockets into the hot oil and fry until they turn golden brown on both sides. This usually takes about 3-4 minutes per side.

Step 7: Drain and Serve Remove the Chebureki from the oil and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve hot with a dipping sauce of your choice.

Step 8: Enjoy! Savor the crispy and flavorful goodness of Chebureki, either on its own or with a refreshing dipping sauce.

Experience the culinary joy of these deep-fried turnovers that bring together a delicious meat filling and a crispy exterior in every bite.
