- Puff pastry sheets (1 package, thawed if frozen)
- Granulated sugar (1 cup)
- Ground cinnamon (1-2 teaspoons, optional)
Preparation Steps:
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare Sugar Coating:
- In a shallow bowl, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon if using. Mix well.
- Roll Out Puff Pastry:
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle.
- Sprinkle Sugar Mixture:
- Sprinkle a generous amount of the sugar mixture evenly over the entire surface of the puff pastry.
- Fold Puff Pastry:
- Starting from one of the longer sides, carefully fold the pastry inward, rolling it towards the center.
- Repeat Folding:
- Fold the other side in, meeting at the center to create a double-layered roll. Press the folds lightly to seal.
- Slice the Roll:
- Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled pastry into 1/2-inch thick slices.
- Coat with Sugar:
- Dip each slice into the sugar mixture, ensuring both sides are well coated.
- Arrange on Baking Sheet:
- Place the coated slices on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie as they will expand during baking.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes or until the cookies are golden brown and have caramelized.
- Cool:
- Allow the Palmier Cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Serve:
- Once cooled, these flaky and crispy cookies are ready to be enjoyed with your favorite hot beverage.
