Perfect Limoncello Tiramisu

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup strong brewed espresso, cooled
  • 1/4 cup Limoncello liqueur
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • Ladyfinger cookies
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Cooking Steps:

Step 1: In a shallow bowl, mix the cooled espresso and Limoncello. Set aside.

Step 2: In a heatproof bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler) and whisk continuously until the mixture becomes pale and thick.

Step 3: Remove the bowl from heat and let it cool slightly. Add mascarpone cheese and continue to whisk until smooth.

Step 4: In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

Step 5: Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.

Step 6: Dip each ladyfinger into the Limoncello-espresso mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Step 7: Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish.

Step 8: Spread a portion of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers and sprinkle with lemon zest.

Step 9: Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of mascarpone mixture on top.

Step 10: Refrigerate the Limoncello Tiramisu for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 11: Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder.
