Ingredients:

  • Raw rice - 1 cup
  • Potatoes - 2 (boiled and mashed)
  • Gram flour (besan) - 1/4 cup
  • Green chilies - 2 (finely chopped)
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon (grated)
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons (chopped)
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - for frying

Cooking Steps:

Step 1: Prepare Rice Mixture

  • Soak raw rice in water for 4-5 hours. Grind the soaked rice to a coarse paste, adding minimal water.

Step 2: Mix Ingredients

  • In a bowl, combine the rice paste, mashed potatoes, gram flour, green chilies, grated ginger, cumin seeds, chopped coriander leaves, and salt. Mix well to form a thick batter.

Step 3: Shape and Fry

  • Heat oil in a pan for frying. Take small portions of the batter and shape them into flat discs. Carefully slide them into the hot oil and fry until golden brown.

Step 4: Drain and Serve

  • Once the nashtas are crisp and golden, remove them from the oil and drain excess oil on a paper towel. Serve hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
