Heart-Shaped Chocolate Eclair

Ingredients:

For the Choux Pastry:

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs

For the Cream Filling:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup

Instructions:

For the Choux Pastry:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan, combine water and butter. Bring to a boil.
  3. Add flour to the boiling mixture and stir vigorously until it forms a smooth dough.
  4. Remove the pan from heat and let the dough cool for a couple of minutes.
  5. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition until the dough is smooth.
  6. Transfer the choux pastry to a piping bag fitted with a large round tip.
  7. Pipe heart shapes onto the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed.
  9. Allow the pastries to cool completely.

For the Cream Filling:

  1. In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  2. Transfer the whipped cream to a piping bag fitted with a small round tip.
  3. Carefully cut the heart-shaped pastries in half horizontally.
  4. Pipe the whipped cream onto the bottom halves of the pastries.
  5. Place the top halves over the cream, creating heart-shaped cream-filled pastries.

For the Chocolate Glaze:

  1. In a heatproof bowl, melt chocolate, butter, and corn syrup together, stirring until smooth.
  2. Allow the chocolate glaze to cool slightly.
  3. Carefully dip the tops of the filled pastries into the chocolate glaze.
  4. Place the glazed pastries on a serving platter.
  5. Optionally, drizzle extra chocolate over the top for decoration.
  6. Refrigerate the Heart-Shaped Chocolate Eclairs for about an hour before serving.
