Heart-Shaped Chocolate Eclair
Ingredients:
For the Choux Pastry:
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
For the Cream Filling:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Chocolate Glaze:
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate, chopped
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
Instructions:
For the Choux Pastry:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan, combine water and butter. Bring to a boil.
- Add flour to the boiling mixture and stir vigorously until it forms a smooth dough.
- Remove the pan from heat and let the dough cool for a couple of minutes.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition until the dough is smooth.
- Transfer the choux pastry to a piping bag fitted with a large round tip.
- Pipe heart shapes onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed.
- Allow the pastries to cool completely.
For the Cream Filling:
- In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Transfer the whipped cream to a piping bag fitted with a small round tip.
- Carefully cut the heart-shaped pastries in half horizontally.
- Pipe the whipped cream onto the bottom halves of the pastries.
- Place the top halves over the cream, creating heart-shaped cream-filled pastries.
For the Chocolate Glaze:
- In a heatproof bowl, melt chocolate, butter, and corn syrup together, stirring until smooth.
- Allow the chocolate glaze to cool slightly.
- Carefully dip the tops of the filled pastries into the chocolate glaze.
- Place the glazed pastries on a serving platter.
- Optionally, drizzle extra chocolate over the top for decoration.
- Refrigerate the Heart-Shaped Chocolate Eclairs for about an hour before serving.
